The Road Less Travelled - Title track
I have had the great pleasure of working with iconic Scottish singer Horse over the past 3 years developing string arrangements for her latest album ‘The Road Less Travelled’ which was released on 25th May 2024 (some examples above). This involved a development residency at St Mary’s Space studio in Fasnacloich in the West Highlands of Scotland - collaborating with Horse, producer Jamie Smith and bassist Lorna Thomas before expanding into full string arrangements for recording in August 2023 at 45 A-side studio in Glasgow. The album was launched at the CCA in Glasgow on release day. This was such an exciting project to be involved in!
I first met Liv Dawn when she was a finalist at the BBC Scotland Singer Songwriter competition in 2019 and accompanied her in the final. I was delighted to add some solo cello to her finalist song ‘Welcome Home’ over lockdown and then she approached me for a full string arrangement to be featured on this song ‘It’s Beautiful’ which was on her debut EP ‘Beautiful Daydream’. It was reviewed on Scottish cultural podcast Everybody wants to play the hits from Snack Magazine. They commented “Strings, strings, her voice, strings, I love the production on it… and the strings”.
